Drama Therapy
Drama therapy is expressive and is ideal for practicing new behaviours or working around emotion regulation. Within drama therapy, many non-verbal methodologies around play and theater are used.
This therapy practice, based in Maastricht, offers expressive arts therapy (vaktherapie) which combines art forms and psychotherapeutic methods by using practical exercises that engage your whole body, not just the thinking, verbal part!
The philosophy that underlies this form of therapy is that many people learn more efficiently through experiences in which physical, playful and creative aspects are addressed. This form of treatment is attuned to what stimulates you to learn and process most effectively.
Learning in a safe and supportive space can help you develop or restore the natural state of connection with yourself or others. You are welcome to come and experience the space in which you can invest in the relationship with all the aspects of yourself, challenge your recurring patterns and expand your comfort zone.

Not all problems can be solved by just talking about them. Especially when you have difficulty expressing your thoughts or feelings or when you cognitively know what your challenges are but you still feel stuck, expressive arts therapy can help you take the next steps. In creative ways you will be invited and challenged to gain new experiences and experiment with changing your recurring patterns.
Expressive arts therapy is multi-methodical, it combines the expressive arts with influences from different psychotherapeutic methods such as cognitive behavioural therapy, schema therapy and client-focused therapy. It does not focus on treating a specific diagnosis but works with the underlying, transdiagnostic factors, such as perception, trauma and emotion regulation.
Every expressive arts therapist has their own style, interests and additional educational which colours the way the treatment is shaped. Leonie has studied drama therapy and has been influenced by improvisation, consent work and movement analysis. She loves to learn about everything health related and has a holistic approach which informs the therapeutic relationship. This means the focus lies on the sum of your parts, not on your complaints or symptoms. The best way to figure out if this form of therapy is right for you is to book a non-binding introductory meeting to get acquainted.
